Missions Moment: Welcomed

Our February Missions Moment is Welcomed!

About Their Ministry

Welcomed is a Family Advocacy Ministry set out to serve foster families through care communities to help them foster stronger. A care community is an engineered team of volunteers which provides for practical needs of a foster family to which they are assigned.

Ministry Updates

Welcomed has grown this past year to partnering with 28 churches across 13 counties in Wisconsin. We are working cross-denominationally with Evangelical Free, Catholic, Lutheran, Assembly of God, and Baptist churches to care for vulnerable children. The care community model is being used to support many Christian foster families across the state. Some churches have reached outside their congregations to support families referred by the social worker in their county. There are possibilities for the care community model to move downstream or upstream in the foster care system. This is demonstrated in that some of our partner churches are supporting biological families after reunification; and one of our partner churches is even supporting a biological family in hopes to prevent a removal. So many exciting possibilities exist with this community model of service and support to foster, adoptive, and biological families.

Prayer Requests

  • God to move in people's hearts to take on the tasks and challenges of starting up this ministry in their church. One of our biggest challenges is that interested churches are having trouble finding volunteers to head up this ministry.

  • God will give us the words to explain fully and passionately this ministry and its benefits. And that we would be able to wait patiently for God to open doors in people's hearts and in church's visions for their ministry in their own communities.
