Soup Luncheon Smorgasboard for Zambia Well

  • St. Stephen ELCA 424 N. 3rd Avenue Edgar, WI 54426 (map)

Details

St. Stephen's goal is to raise funds to enhance the fresh water supply of residents of Vizinga Village in Choma, Zambia, who are currently in the midst of a two-year drought. The funds raised will be used by their village officials to dig a well, enabling villagers to have a more adequate supply of clean drinking water. Streams and water reservoirs have recently dried up, as the area has missed two consecutive rainy seasons. Currently, villagers are drinking out of cattle sloughs, which generally leads to serious illness.

In order to fund this initiative, the congregational members of St. Stephen Lutheran, Edgar, WI., will be holding a "Soup Luncheon Smorgasbord" after church services on Sunday, November 10, for local residents. Church volunteers at St. Stephen will make a variety of soups for the event. A free-will offering will be taken and funds received will be put towards the cost of digging the well in Zambia.

Additional efforts by the St. Stephen Lutheran congregation will continue to support the full cost of digging a well in Vizinga Village, Choma, Zambia.
