Mill Church Family,

This Christmas Eve will be unique for a number of reasons and for the Burris family in a very special way.

For the first time since I moved to Wisconsin in 2006 and for Shannon & the kids’ first time ever, the Burrises will be in North Carolina with family on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day. :)

For nearly 40 years, and with few exceptions, I have enjoyed smoked North Carolina pork—a Cox/Burris family tradition—for Christmas. But for the last 15 years, it’s been in the form of microwaved leftovers. While 2020 has brought a number of challenges, I am so excited to wrap it up with smoke in my eyes and fresh-pulled, barbecued shoulders on my tongue!

Like many others, we watched my sister get married (and my grandfather, Kendred, buried) in 2020 thru a digital screen, unable to be there, in-person. We’re so delighted to celebrate Meredith and her new husband, Aaron, with hugs (& gifts!). Our kids adore their grandparents (and vice-versa) and are looking forward to squeezes and laughs.

While we will deeply miss celebrating Christmas with you, in-person, I will be pre-recording a special Christmas Eve message that will be played at our Stratford services (in-person & LIVEstream). In addition, the Burrises will be joining The Mill on Christmas Eve, online, from just north of Charlotte!

Our Christmas Eve service times are posted, below. Among our most well-attended services of the year, Christmas Eve 2020 will be treated with extra precaution (registration required in Stratford) so that we all stay healthy & enjoy our loved ones!

P.S. Praise goes out to the Stratford staff & volunteers, who have insisted on hosting safe opportunities to worship in-person, & therefore online, in my absence. 3:30 & 5:30 pm (in-person*, Facebook, YouTube, & themill.online.church)

*Our in-person services in Stratford will require registration. Limit: 50 attendees per service. Registration will open Monday, December 14 @ 8 am via The Mill Church Facebook page & newsletter. A non-staffed cry room will be available (parent supervision required).
