Since Your Love
Everyone loves hearing a great “diamond in the rough” story. Rags to riches. Treasure from trash. Current American culture seems to be growing a consciousness around the reuse of old goods, and in many cases repurposing them. The social web provides a seemingly endless supply of information on how to take advantage of what resources are available, and how to reuse them. But what about re-creation?
Made New
It’s been said that: Jesus is the perpetual processor of people. He breaks us down into the finest of components and with them creates the new and beautiful. The local church is the industry of spiritual reformation, the very workshop of Christ.
This Christ, this Son of God is not simply interested in reuse, but He is in the business of completely remaking us, undoing all the wrong and birthing new life.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
2 Corinthians 5.17
To Be With Him
This life may afford us a form of goodness, a sense of accomplishment, even a glimpse of fulfillment, but always with the tinge of something amiss. We as Christians know that we will never be complete - whole - until we are in full communion with God. No matter the circumstance - He is Emmanuel - God with us. This is our comfort.
We are made by God, for God. Since the beginning of creation God’s plan was to be with us. He walked with Adam and Eve. He knew them. But sin has separated us. Sin has tainted us. Sin has irreparably damaged us. The good news, the Gospel, is not that we are fixed, but that we are in fact remade, reborn! We are no longer of this world, but of God’s Spirit.
As the song states, “You’re my breath, my life, my everything”. Christ said “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”(John 14.6) He is the Bread of Life, Jehovah Jireh, Our Provider. He Who is able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or think (Eph 3.20) is our salvation, strength, song (Isaiah 12.2) and everlasting rock (Isaiah 26.4). He has provided last-minute-lambs (Gen 22.8), promises us peace beyond understanding (Phil 4.7) and provides an escape from every temptation (1 Cor 10.13). He has created the very fabric of our universe (Gen 1.1) and knows the very hairs on our heads (Luke 12.7).
And as people of God’s Spirit, we can say that He is all we need. With all that we are let us call out that there is “no one before You!” Relish in the truth stated in the chorus of this song:
I was made by you
I was made for you
I am unfulfilled
Without full communion
The Challenge
As you seek God through this song, sing with conviction that you are indeed a New Creation, that there is no one before God and that you long to be with Him!
